LION CUBS v EDINBURGH, SUNDAY PREVIEW

LEICESTER continue their WSRA National Development League programme when they host Edinburgh at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Sunday (3pm).

The Lion Cubs are currently second in the standings, four points behind leaders Oxford with a match in hand, with both sides at home on Sunday as the Chargers face Belle Vue.

For Leicester it is an opportunity to build on a hard-fought home win over the Steelers last time out, although they will be without two of their regular septet for the clash with the Monarchs Academy.

They continue to operate rider replacement for the retired Sonny Springer, whilst skipper Max James is ruled out with injury to his left wrist after his crash a fortnight ago.

Luke Harris has been booked to guest at No.2 and Ben Trigger will take over as Lion Cubs captain on the day.

Manager Jen Crossland said: “I was very impressed with the way Ben got around the riders and talked to them when we were in a tough situation last time, so he was the obvious choice to be captain when Max was ruled out.
“It promises to be another tough match on paper as Edinburgh have plenty of strength at the top which will make it interesting for Ben, Max (Perry) and Cooper (Rushen).

“But the important thing is that the riders keep on improving, these youngsters are the future of the sport and with a good weather forecast on Sunday we’re looking for everyone to get right behind them.”

The Monarchs Academy are led by Dayle Wood and former Lion Cubs title winner Connor Coles, whilst youngster Jordy Loftus makes his first appearance at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park after joining the Scottish club earlier this season.

They operate rider replacement at No.3 for Matt Marson, who has not yet returned from compassionate leave.

LEICESTER: Cooper Rushen, Luke Harris, Max Perry, Sonny Springer R/R, Ben Trigger, Ryan Ingram, Eli Meadows.

EDINBURGH: Dayle Wood, Mark Parker, Matt Marson R/R, Sam McGurk, Connor Coles, Jordy Loftus, Lee Harrison.
